The development of the Port of Berbera in Somaliland has brought hope to a young nation and created jobs for 1,200 people. The Dubai Free Zones Council (DFZC) Demand Side Management Strategy (DSM) project was undertaken with the goal of developing a DSM Strategy tailored to the DFZC and aligning with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy overarching strategy and targets. The DSM strategy is a key initiative in aligning Dubai and the UAE with the 2050 net zero goals. In addition to environmental benefits, DSM results in significant cost benefit, providing a strong business case for implementing DSM programs.

The ocean is the largest long-term carbon sink on the planet. It stores and recycles 93% of the earth’s CO2, but the rate of loss of these blue carbon ecosystems is the highest among all ecosystems.
