Responsible Business Practices

Building the strong foundations to ensure we are operating responsibly.

Our World: Seven Priorities

As a global business, having strong foundations to ensure we are operating responsibly is vital to our long-term success. To achieve this, our ‘Our World’ strategy focuses on efforts to operate as a responsible business across seven priority areas.

The logistics industry exposes us to a wide range of health and safety risks. Our goal is to make sure everyone goes home safe by adopting a zero-harm approach, and building a culture where safety is naturally ingrained into our everyday actions and mind-set. With our continuous efforts in this direction, we have achieved 1 million hours of work without any injuries.

Keeping supply chains secure is critical to ensure the safety of our people and operations. We are a member of Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Authorized Economic Operator, Container Security Initiative and Megaports, helping us to secure the supply chain. We have also invested in World Security, a full spectrum, security solutions provider, offering comprehensive security solutions across the United Arab Emirates since 1975.

We believe in promoting the emotional, financial, social and physical wellbeing of our people to help them thrive. We’re developing a culture that prioritises wellness in all aspects of work and life, within a measurable framework that we can report on.

DP World’s Code of Ethics sets out how we maintain international best practices in preventing conflicts of interest, fraud, insider trading, misuse of information and modern slavery. We focus on creating an honest and open culture to build trust and foster strong relationships.

Community Engagement

We use our strong relationship with communities to improve social outcomes. From direct community investment to employee volunteering and charitable giving, we invest in and improve the communities in which we operate.

Our key partners for active community engagement include Dubai Cares, Emirates Red Crescent, Community Development Authority, Dubai Club for People of Determination, Al Jalila Children’s Hospital and Companies for Good.

Climate change

From the scale of energy required to make and move goods to the resource intensity of logistics, we focus on measuring and managing our direct environmental impacts and preventing global climate change. Our commitment to sustainability has helped us explore renewable energy and energy conservation options to reduce our carbon footprint across all business operations.

  • Renewable Energy

DP World UAE actively invests in renewable energy to safeguard the future generations and drive sustainable operations with minimal negative impact on the environment. 157,000 solar panels are being installed across UAE Region’s assets, generating clean energy to fully power 4,600 homes. DP World’s global headquarters in Jebel Ali is now carbon neutral as the result of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, installed on the building’s rooftop and car park.

  • Energy Conservation

Key strategies for energy conservation include, but are not limited to: avoiding unnecessary idling of machinery, motion sensor activations, hybrid engine roll out, installation of smart metering capabilities, enhancement in operational efficiencies and replacement of ageing equipment with new lower-carbon technologies. We use refitting technology to enhance the performance of ageing assets and current infrastructure. Our in-house programmes are aligned with the Dubai Supreme Energy Council’s Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, aiming to secure sustainable supply of energy and enhance demand efficiency (water, power & transportation fuel).

  • People Development

Offering development opportunities enables our colleagues to achieve business success and personal growth. We provide targeted learning and development experiences to give us a competitive advantage in smart trade.
