President Chandrikapersad Santokhi visits DP World Paramaribo

DP World is the Official Premier Global Trade Partner of Expo 2020 in Dubai. In preparation for the visit of the Surinamese presidential delegation to Expo 2020 and the DP World pavilion there, a company visit was organized on Saturday November 13th 2021 to Integra Port Services N.V., operating under the brand name DP World Paramaribo.

The delegation consisting of, President Chandrikapersad Santokhi, Minister Albert Ramdin, Minister Albert Jubithana, Member of the National Assembly Mr. Gajadien and Mr. Wang and other governmental officials were  received a presentation from , Capt. Remi Vyzelman, local shareholder in Suriname and the management of DP World Paramaribo.

“The concept of trade and freight seems far away from our daily lives, but the truth is that we are all closely related to it,” said Mervel Kotzebue-Fleur, general manager of DP World Paramaribo. She continues, “Behind the scenes, trade is a series of complex global operations and DP World is a leading provider of smart logistics solutions". The global network includes 181 business units in 64 countries, comprising logistics terminals, maritime services, ports and economic zones.

Captain Remi Vyzelman discussed the history of Integra Port Services N.V. and the creation of the Joint Venture with DP World. To the question "Why was this partner chosen?", he answered "DP world believes in local partnerships (local content) and sustainable business (sustainability). This has been deciding factor in the choice of a Joint Venture partner'.

 DP World believes that investment expansion in Suriname is sustainable and fruitful, prioritizing sustainability and impact on the people, communities and environment in which the company operates. Project Suzannesdaal, of which DP World informed the community on August 16 of its investment intention in the Oil & Gas sector, shows the local content strategy.

This initiative is a joint venture with Surinamese partners HJ de Vries Project Development NV and FIRM Engineering NV, land owner and initiator. A world-class Offshore Support Base will be built on the eastern bank of the Suriname River near the Atlantic Ocean.

DP World wants to build and grow long-term relationships - with governments, shipping companies, traders and other stakeholders active in the logistics chain. Expo 2020 is the largest event ever hosted in the Arab world, being held from October 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022, with a focus on building partnerships and inspiring ideas that will forge the world of tomorrow. Participants from more than 192 countries participate in this event.

The theme of the Expo is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". The expo will also have three sub-themes: opportunities, mobility and sustainability, each with its own pavilion. The DP World pavilion is focused around the concept of 'Making Trade Flow'.
