More reefers on the barge!
On behalf of DP World Logistics Europe, Toon Pauwels spoke about this in the Supply Chain Talks of the Port of Rotterdam. There is currently already a lot of sustainable transport of temperature-sensitive goods by water. DP World barges have 60 to 70 reefer plugs on board.
“The perception is that all reefer containers have to be moved very quickly. Often, however, we do not know what is in it and how fast it really needs to be at the destination. If we can map that out, many more reefers will be shipped by barge.”
